Dandelion
(Taraxacum officinale)

PARTS USED: Leaves, roots

ACTIONS: Diuretic, hepatic tonic and detoxifier, bitter, laxative, alterative, galactagogue.

MEDICINAL PROPERTIES: Excellent herbal balancer of the liver and stomach. Is a bitter herb that stimulates movement of blood and the lymphatic system. Diuretic action. High in vitamins A (Carotene), B Complex, C (ascorbic acid), D, calcium, magnesium, magnesium sulfur, potassium, and low sodium. Cool, bitter, sweet. Lowers blood pressure by reducing fluid retention. Helps constipation. May reduce or eliminate gallstones. May detox hangover

COMBINATIONS: For allergies, combine with goldenrod, yellow dock, eyebright and nettles.

GROWTH PATTERN: everywhere!

SPIRITUAL: Magically, one used dandelion to bring wisdom though a difficult experience.

COUNTERINDICATIONS: Leaf-none. Root, may cause heartburn. When there is intestinal blockage or gallstone is counterindicated.

DOSAGE: For fluid retention, drink infusion 1 cup 2-3 times a day. For eczema 1/2 tsp of tincture 3 times a day. For overall cleansing eat raw and whole regularly in food preparation.
