ACTIONS: Nervine, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, diaphoretic, stomachic, emmenagogue, mild anti-microbial, relaxant, carminative, antiallergenic
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES: Chamomile alleviates nervousness, mild anxiety, and menstrual cramps. Calms insomniacs. Helps with restlessness and irritability in children and is excellent for teething. Great source of calcium. Can be antiseptic for open wounds and sore eyes. Good for amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea. Regulates bowels. Helps with conjunctivitis
COMBINATIONS: make an infusion with fresh ginger root for mild menstrual cramps or minor stomach upsets.
GROWTH PATTERN: Chamomile is a perennial that grows on most soils, needs substantial watering and full sun. It will grow to 3 feet tall.
SPIRITUAL: When Chamomile is placed in prosperity amulets, it may help attract money. While burned with incense a clearer, more relaxed meditation may result. Burned alone it will promote a deeper sleep state. If spread around your land, it may remove evil spells and curses.
COUNTERINDICATIONS: not for use in pregnancy because it is an emmenagogue and uterine stimulant. May also be an emetic in large doses.
Do not use if allergic to ragweed.
DOSAGE: Infusion before sleep, for child, 1 tsp in 4 cups of water, In tincture, 1 tsp. 3 times a day. In lotion, rub into irritated or inflamed skin.
